Hmmm, new place. Another one. Yep.
Wonder if this one's going to stick.
I have to admit that I stuck with Diaryland for alot longer than I thought I would, but the fun and shininess has worn off there. Oh, I still have my favorites, which are listed under Crushes, but I'm getting so tired of Andrew's inattention and the problems with Dland.
Why pay for services that don't work half the time, or for services you can get elsewhere for free.
Yeah yeah, I know about all that loyalty stuff, but damn, what about loyalty to the customer?
Here at Bravenet with the free account I get comments (& notices that I got them!), tag board, cool templates that I can do some customizing to and Extras fields - see the Mood, On My Mind, Reading, Hearing Boxes? (You can set your own) You set them up when you set up the diary then it's just a matter of filling them in with each entry, instead of having to go into your template coding every time, which is what you have to do if you didn't get
hijacked into purchasing a gold/supergold membership.
I can very easily change the layout, moving the tag board over to the other side, or have it put the entry title in a box. Heck, I can even code it so that the reader can move the layout around to one they find more to their liking. No, you can't change my colors or my font. No touchie!
Oh yeah, there's smilies but I figure I'll get tired of those real soon. LOL
Now for the stuff you don't see - stats and the ability to block any ISP I want from reading me and/or leaving comments. Didja hear that
Trin?
Also they have this really kickin' entry box. Has the bold, underlink, italic, strike through, text alignment, bulleted lists, justify, link, Image, Line codes all as BUTTONS! Meaning no more freakin' coding within your entries unless you really want to do it yourself. It's called the Rich Text/Visual Editor entry box.
You can also change the
font and
font size on the fly within each entry. Handy for those conversations some people like to post.
Oh oh oh - There's a spellchecker! Damn, Chrome woulda loved that.
I tried Bravenet out a few months ago, but lost interest in it when I realized that there was no central hub in which to check out other bravenet bloggers. That has changed.
I've not be writing a lot in my diary, haven't really had too much to say. Anything I came up with was more like a short little blurb instead of a diary entry. I toyed with the idea of switching to blog style, but damn I must have read the coding changes I'd have had to make five times before giving up. And forget about emailing for "help". We all know how that would work out, don't we?
